Successful project management and projects
are not new. However, the importance of good project management
has become increasingly high, as projects have evolved over
the years from their traditional image of large-scale construction
projects or engineering projects to what effectively is now
‘the process of change’ and the efficient utilisation of
resources to achieve beneficial change in any industry. Two
fundamental questions have to be asked before starting a
project – “are we doing the right project?” and “where does
it fit into the corporate strategy?”.
The course will provide knowledge on how to successfully
manage a project in a complex environment through the acquisition
of basic skills and the use of practical examples linking
theory to live projects. In addition, the course will help
identify and where possible, quantify risk inherent in managing
project/programmes and last but not least, identify the skills
and qualities of the ‘excellent’ project and programme managers.
