The importance of business development
and the value it generates for a firm should never be under-estimated.
More often than not, less savvy managers and corporate leaders
assume that the role of business development encompasses
marketing, sales and branding activities only.
Whereas a well informed corporate leaders understand the seriousness
of this function and attribute additional resources to ensure
top-line performance by its personnel. Indeed, the business
development function does not only stop at marketing, sales
or branding. It encompasses what we would call the ‘front line’
of the firm. Apart from the 3 functions mentioned above, business
development operations cover market research, corporate positioning
strategy, understanding legal, financial and commercial operations
in existing as well as green field markets and providing these
in an logical, preferably empirical manner for corporate leaders
to make informed decisions.
It is for this reason, that our programme is focused on
developing the skills and knowledge expected of personnel
in a leadership or management position within a business
development function. The programme challenges participants
to develop and improve their skill levels in areas that will
have a direct impact in their ability to generate substantial
value for their firms.
The programme comprises 6 core modules that form the basis
for effective business development initiatives. On completion
of the programme, participants will find it easier to initiate,
plan, execute, manage, deal with crisis’ and report their
initiatives to the various stakeholders involved. The indirect
benefit to firms whose personnel attend this course would
be greater efficiency of operations, reduced miscommunication,
more effective project management and improved reporting.
Suitable Participants should be individuals in a leadership
or management role within a business development function
that want to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of
their initiatives, both from a strategic and operational
standpoint. Participants are expected to have at least 5
years of experience in the business development function
and will actively participate in group activities.
